We Gonna Rock Down to Electric Avenue

If the title of this blog post takes you back to countless wasted hours watching MTV in the early 1980s, we have something in common.  The Eddy Grant hit, “Electric Avenue” and the associated video, were in heavy rotation in 1983. But for four SuccessEd staffers, Electric Avenue means something completely different.  That is because “Electric Avenue” was the theme of the 18th annual Region 7 Spring Fling in Longview, Texas.  Last week, Christy Clark, MacMichael Henson, Stephanie Marullo, and Stacie Whitaker took a day away from their normal SuccessEd duties to volunteer at the event. The Spring Fling gives special needs children an opportunity to attend their own prom.  Kids from all over East Texas came to the event dressed in their very best to dance and enjoy time with their friends.  Over 600 special needs kids attended this year. We count ourselves blessed to be able to partner with so many school districts in East Texas in service to this wonderful group of kids.  It is an honor to be a small part of what we hope is a big memory for them.
